Today Norway is one of the wealthiest countries on Earth. With the discovery of oil in the Northern Sea in 1969, Norway started developing the very strong economy they have today. About 20% of the Norwegian import comes from export of oil to the World and the export has led to a national fund of about 5000 billion Norwegian kroner – about one million pr. Norwegian citizen.
Global warming and preserving the environment is one of the most discussed political issues in the World, and slowly we have begun turning to more sustainable solutions according to energy and power. More cars are driven on alternative fuels, that don't harm the environment and solar power and wind energy are becoming more common all over the World.
The oil is stored in the continental shelfs outside the Norwegian Coast. But this storage is not going to last forever. One day it will run out.
